Democracy Topples the Monarchy …

November 8, 2006 …Hallelujah - The Democrats have taken back the House and the Senate. And better still, the third in command is the most fabulous Nancy Pelosi. Yes, that’s right. A woman. Democrat. From San Francisco no less. Third in the chain of command. Pinch me!

So even though this is a cause for celebration… Janet Jackson, keep your boobs in place. While we can stop wasting our time on arresting Americans for free speech, we musn’t flaunt our new authority. Let’s instead balance the budget, improve our presence globally, get out of Iraq, educate our kids… You know - the little things!

While I was never a Bush supporter, he did accept defeat gracefully. I will give him that. And Rumsfeld wisely quit before being carried out by an angry mob. But no gloating - we have a lot of hard work to do. While the middle class had been under a sort of genocide, and we were stepping over homeless people, let’s remember that straight Republicans are people too. Let’s not abandon Faith just because the “religious wrong” were in charge. Instead, let’s be moderate and progressive, with growth, success and celebration for all.

First, let’s end the terror - from within where it is worst. And all you candy-assed network weenies… maybe you can cancel your kiss-ass programs that bowed to the monarchy that has just fallen and create some good programming. Oddly Fox had balls in entertainment, but was a puppet in the news division. Talk about split personalities! If you missed American Dad last week, make sure to set your TIVO to have a gay old time!

So one and all, join me in celebration. The cloud has lifted. An opportunity awaits. We won today. And we have a lot of work to do to prove ourselves. There are many who would also celebrate our failure, if not sabotage it. So each of us must continue to live powerfully and make a difference. Only in that will we affect social change.

Thanks,
Mark
